Remote job
Oracle Fusion PPM – Project Accounting SME
Job details
About this role
Role overview
Lead the design and delivery of an Oracle Fusion Cloud Project Portfolio Management solution for capital project and cost accounting, initially supporting a multi-wave retail store development program. You will assess how legacy processes work, identify which business outcomes must carry forward, and design a standard-aligned Oracle configuration rather than reproducing old customizations. The assignment is expected to run 12–18 months, followed by work on another Oracle engagement.
Responsibilities
- Document legacy capital project processes, reports, interfaces, customizations, and data, including in-flight projects, budgets, commitments, and construction-in-progress balances. - Run fit-gap analysis against standard Oracle Fusion PPM functionality, maintain requirements traceability, and recommend whether gaps need configuration, integration, process change, or retirement. - Lead design decisions with accounting, construction, real estate, procurement, and finance stakeholders, covering project budgets and controls, change orders, contingency, capitalized labor, tenant allowances, asset accounting, tax, and security. - Define configuration and conversion approaches, including treatment of active projects and reconciliation of converted costs and balances to the general ledger. - Coordinate with the Oracle financials specialist on integrations with core finance modules and support testing, reporting, training, go-live, and post-launch issue resolution. - Use AI-enabled tools to document processes, draft configuration materials and test scripts, and reconcile conversion results; review their work and contribute domain expertise back into the platform.
Requirements
- At least 12 years of Oracle project accounting experience, including five or more years working with Oracle Fusion Cloud PPM. - Deep knowledge of capital project accounting and the relationship between project accounting and core financial processes. - Ability to analyze legacy systems and undocumented processes, distinguish business requirements from workarounds, and translate findings into Oracle-native designs. - Experience leading requirements, configuration, data conversion, testing, and stakeholder decisions for complex implementations. - Willingness to work US business hours with distributed teams and travel to customer offices and construction sites, up to 30%.
Nice to have
- Oracle Cloud project management certification or migration experience from systems such as SAP, Oracle E-Business Suite, PeopleSoft, or JD Edwards. - Experience in retail or another multi-location business with frequent capital projects and phased regional or entity rollouts. - Familiarity with Oracle integrations for finance, procurement, fixed assets, inventory, leases, or construction management systems.
Benefits and work setup
This is a full-time, permanent US-based role with a hybrid arrangement: remote work, regular customer-site visits, and travel of up to 30%. The initial engagement supports a retail store development program and is expected to last 12–18 months.
