About this role

Role overview A senior data engineer is needed to build the data infrastructure that powers a modern product platform, designing pipelines and architecting lakehouse solutions with velocity and precision. The role centers on a Postgres-backed application environment paired with ClickHouse for analytics, leveraging Python, TypeScript, and Azure-hosted event-driven services. It suits a self-directed builder who moves fast with AI-assisted coding tools without sacrificing quality.

Responsibilities - Design and implement lakehouse architecture using open-source technologies. - Build and optimize ClickHouse deployments for high-performance analytical workloads. - Develop custom data transforms and ETL/ELT pipelines using well-supported open-source tooling. - Create data models that bridge Postgres application databases with the ClickHouse analytics layer. - Write specifications before writing code, defining contracts, schemas, and expected behaviors upfront. - Use AI-assisted coding tools daily to accelerate development and reduce toil. - Establish data quality frameworks and observability across the pipeline while optimizing for performance, cost, and reliability at scale.

Requirements - 5+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or related roles. - Deep expertise with ClickHouse, including deployment, optimization, schema design, and materialized views, plus strong experience with Postgres. - Strong grasp of lakehouse patterns (Delta Lake, Apache Iceberg, or Apache Hudi) and ETL/ELT tooling such as Airflow, Dagster, dbt, or Prefect. - Hands-on experience with streaming and batch frameworks like Kafka, Flink, or Spark. - Strong SQL plus deep proficiency in Python and working TypeScript for application integration. - Demonstrated fluency with AI coding assistants (such as Cursor, Copilot, or Claude) and experience using LLMs for data transformation or pipeline work. - A spec-first mindset along with familiarity with data contracts, schema registries, and data mesh principles.

Nice to have - Background working in cross-functional product teams and contributions to open-source data projects.

Benefits and work setup - Remote-eligible within the United States, with occasional office or offsite work as agreed with the manager. - US national base pay of $170,000, with actual compensation informed by skills, prior relevant experience, and work location. - No visa sponsorship available; candidates must currently be authorized to work in the US.
