Job details
About this role
Role overview Shape the next generation of connected sensing and response hardware used in senior living environments. You’ll lead product strategy from customer discovery and business case through development gates and launch, working alongside engineering and architecture teams to make products practical to deploy, cost-conscious, and ready for their intended safety requirements.
Responsibilities - Build a multi-generation hardware roadmap grounded in customer evidence and portfolio priorities. - Validate critical customer requirements before major investment and define measurable criteria for each development stage. - Develop pre-production business cases covering target bill of materials, capital costs, margin, payback, and return on investment; assess build, buy, or partner options. - Translate cross-functional needs into hardware and edge-compute requirements, including privacy, appearance, and adoption considerations in assisted living settings. - Work with AI and intelligence teams to evaluate sensing approaches and favor common platforms where possible. - Guide programs through concept, engineering and production validation stages, certification planning, launch readiness, and eventual end-of-life transitions.
Requirements - Experience taking connected hardware, such as IoT, edge, or smart devices, from concept through new product introduction to mass production. - Six or more years of product management experience and strong business modeling skills, including bill of materials, margin, and return analysis. - Working knowledge of hardware architecture, such as systems-on-chip, edge computing, and sensors, sufficient to make tradeoffs with engineers. - Experience partnering with contract manufacturers during product introduction and production ramp. - Experience delivering both integrated off-the-shelf and custom hardware.
Nice to have - Background with life-safety or regulated devices, medical products, non-optical sensing, senior living, or building systems.
Benefits and work setup - Fully remote; candidates must be based in the United States or Canada. - Medical, dental, and vision coverage with employee premiums fully paid, a 401(k) program, and monthly education, wellbeing, and home-office stipends. - Non-accrual paid time off, family and parental leave, company retreats, and growth opportunities.
