Senior Pre-Sales Systems Engineer, Ottawa

Role overview This senior pre-sales engineering role supports customer evaluations and solution design for enterprise data storage needs in the Ottawa area. You will partner with sales colleagues and channel partners to understand customer requirements, explain architecture options, and demonstrate how proposed solutions can support business goals.

Responsibilities - Discover customer priorities and decision criteria, then translate business needs into technical recommendations. - Advise on storage products, distributed storage architectures, file systems, and DAS, NAS, and SAN environments. - Lead evaluations, benchmarks, system configurations, and technical presentations for prospective and existing customers. - Work with account teams and partners to shape sales strategy, identify new opportunities, and support customer planning. - Contribute to RFI, RFP, and RFQ responses, and coordinate interoperability, functional, and performance validation. - Monitor competitive offerings and market developments, sharing relevant insights with internal teams.

Requirements - Previous pre-sales experience and at least five years of relevant experience in technology, solution design, or customer communication. - Strong understanding of multi-tier client/server and web-based computing architecture. - Knowledge of storage architectures such as Fibre Channel, iSCSI, NAS, object storage, and SAN, plus Linux and NFS environments. - Experience with distributed computing and storage subsystems, and the ability to present complex concepts clearly. - Enterprise sales support experience in storage, networking, systems, cloud, or software is preferred; experience developing new prospects is valuable.

Nice to have Familiarity with modern web architectures, cloud-native and public cloud environments, containers, automation, and storage-intensive applications such as SQL or Oracle databases.
