Product Assurance Engineer

Role overview

A remote opening exists for a Product Assurance Engineer to embed with a multidisciplinary team responsible for delivering high-quality, production-ready infrastructure. The mission centers on reliability-oriented testing: crafting experiments that expose latent defects, availability gaps, and performance cliffs before they reach customers. This role suits a curious, detail-oriented engineer who enjoys hands-on debugging and shipping polished products.

Responsibilities

- Design and run workload-driven stress tests that replicate realistic traffic patterns, including high connection-rate scenarios, micro-burst traffic, large-flow saturation, multicast, and adversarial packet patterns - Instrument systems, observe behavior, and correlate metrics to characterize and localize underlying issues - Drive chaos-style experiments that simulate common hardware failure modes and control plane outages - Investigate availability and reliability gaps, then produce reproducible failure reports with clear write-ups - Partner with engineers across the software stack to triage findings and verify fixes and mitigations - Strengthen the assurance infrastructure itself by improving scripts, harnesses, chaos tooling, and automated regression suites

Requirements

- Deep familiarity troubleshooting traffic issues across different network layers and characterizing performance and reliability of data paths - Comfort with low-level debugging, reading packet captures, and reasoning from raw protocol state - A demonstrable track record of finding non-obvious reliability bugs in complex systems - Proficiency in at least one scripting or systems language such as Python, Rust, or Go, used to build harnesses and automate workload generation - Enjoyment of hands-on work with test infrastructure - Strong writing skills for clear bug reports, knowledge articles, and technical documentation
