Job details
About this role
Role overview Lead a cross-functional product engineering team responsible for the tools used to translate, review, and approve content, along with related content management and developer utilities. You’ll share responsibility for team strategy and delivery with product and design partners, balancing customer outcomes, technical quality, and business impact. The role calls for an engineering leader who stays connected to the technical work while helping teams adopt AI-assisted practices responsibly.
Responsibilities - Coach and develop software engineers, support career progression, conduct performance reviews, contribute to compensation planning, and hire. - Review important designs and code changes, pair on difficult problems, and make occasional contributions such as prototypes, tooling, or small fixes. - Work with product and design on customer discovery, priorities, and end-to-end team strategy. - Guide scope, investment, and technical debt decisions using customer and business impact. - Improve delivery flow and quality by tracking signals such as cycle time, deployment frequency, failure rate, and recovery time, then addressing bottlenecks. - Integrate AI tools and agent workflows into the software lifecycle, assessing their effects on speed, quality, reliability, and engineer experience. - Own service health and operational practices, including incident leadership when needed. - Set quarterly plans, track roadmap progress, and contribute to broader engineering planning.
Requirements - At least three years of recent engineering management experience, with the technical depth to discuss code, architecture, and design credibly. - A record of hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance management, and supporting engineers’ growth. - Product engineering experience partnering with product and design, engaging with customers, and measuring outcomes. - Business judgment and clear communication of trade-offs to stakeholders. - Experience using delivery and flow measures, such as DORA metrics, cycle time, or work-in-progress limits, to improve teams without turning metrics into targets. - Hands-on use of AI-assisted development and agentic tools, including a practical understanding of their effects on delivery and engineering work. - Experience delivering complex initiatives across teams while managing dependencies, risks, and incidents.
Nice to have Localization or translation workflow experience; scale-up product engineering leadership; shipping AI-powered features; managing distributed teams; or familiarity with SPACE or developer experience frameworks.
