Role overview
Design and deliver backend software built to support distributed, multi-tier applications. The role spans the full development lifecycle, from architecture and implementation through testing, documentation, delivery, and maintenance, with an emphasis on scalable Java services and cloud infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, and document distributed applications, tools, and services. - Turn functional needs into efficient, supportable solutions that fit the broader architecture. - Contribute throughout the software lifecycle, including delivery and ongoing maintenance. - Develop scalable architectures for current and anticipated application needs. - Assess software products and tools, and make recommendations about their use. - Use AI coding tools to assist with implementation, refactoring, test creation, and documentation; mentor junior engineers.
Requirements
- Strong Java programming skills and object-oriented design experience. - Experience building large-scale, multi-tiered, multithreaded, distributed systems. - Knowledge of software architecture and network design. - Experience with microservices and AWS, including services such as Lambda, Cognito, RDS, SQS, EC2, EKS, Step Functions, API Gateway, and VPC. - Familiarity with serverless architecture, data structures, algorithms, and algorithm optimization. - Ability to produce clear, useful technical documentation.
