About this role
Role overview
Design and develop process control systems for a fuel recycling facility, from early system definition through implementation, troubleshooting, and scale-up. The work spans process and instrumentation controls and requires close coordination with facility design, equipment engineering, and licensing teams.
Responsibilities
- Define control philosophies, key variables, operating setpoints, and the reasoning behind them. - Prepare and review control documentation, including instrument loops, logic diagrams, interlock schemes, and cause-and-effect matrices. - Establish alarm priorities and strategies that support operator awareness and safe operation. - Specify control architectures and requirements for distributed control, programmable controllers, and operator interfaces. - Develop technical material for regulatory submissions and ensure systems meet facility and regulatory needs. - Collaborate across engineering disciplines to design, implement, monitor, and troubleshoot controls.
Requirements
- Degree in chemical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related discipline. - At least 10 years of experience in process controls engineering or a closely related field. - Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills. - Ability to work independently, learn quickly, and develop solutions in a fast-moving, iterative environment. - Sound judgment and a collaborative approach to complex technical work.
Nice to have
- Experience in the nuclear fuel cycle or in high-temperature or corrosive facilities. - Familiarity with control narratives, P&IDs, instrument specifications and setpoints, and interlock lists. - Experience designing, commissioning, managing, or operating DCS, PLC, alarm, safety, or HMI systems. - Process hazard analysis leadership or subject matter expertise. - Work on pilot or first-of-a-kind facilities, or experience in the commercial or government nuclear sector.
Benefits and work setup
