Senior Backend Engineer (Remote)

Role overview Own backend work for a logistics operations platform, from shaping features through deployment and production monitoring. The role combines service development, database performance, reliability improvements, and close collaboration with product and design partners.

Responsibilities - Scope, design, implement, test, ship, and monitor backend features end to end. - Build production web services and REST APIs primarily with PHP and Symfony. - Write and tune MySQL queries, indexes, and Doctrine ORM usage. - Improve system reliability and performance through design, profiling, and instrumentation. - Work with product and design to turn requirements into practical features, and contribute to engineering standards and developer experience. - Use AI coding tools to assist with tests, migrations, refactoring, documentation, and internal automation; review their output carefully.

Requirements - At least five years of experience building and operating backend production systems. - Strong PHP, Symfony, MySQL, Doctrine, and REST API experience. - Knowledge of software design principles and patterns, with a focus on maintainable, testable code. - Clear written communication, including concise pull requests, tickets, and design notes. - Ability to debug across the stack and make pragmatic, evidence-informed trade-offs. - Willingness to use AI coding tools regularly while taking responsibility for the resulting work.

Nice to have - Experience with caching, queues, or asynchronous processing. - Familiarity with metrics, tracing, logging, and performance tuning. - Awareness of security and data privacy in SaaS products, or experience in logistics.
