Safety Engineer - Free Tier Abuse
Job details
About this role
Role overview Build and operate safety systems that detect and prevent abuse of free access across a multimodal platform. You’ll own the engineering lifecycle, from backend architecture and model integration to deployment and monitoring, and help shape guardrails that can handle growing demand with precision.
Responsibilities - Build scalable backend services that use AI and machine learning to detect abuse. - Design APIs, data pipelines, and service architectures for real-time and batch moderation. - Establish monitoring, alerting, service objectives, and performance benchmarks. - Work with machine learning engineers to productionize models and integrate them into products. - Guide technical decisions and contribute to the safety systems roadmap.
Requirements - Direct experience addressing free-tier abuse, fraud, or fake-account and bot farming at scale. - At least six years building and operating production backend systems. - Strong skills in Python, distributed systems, APIs, and data pipelines. - Experience with cloud infrastructure, containers, and CI/CD; familiarity with AWS or GCP and Docker or Kubernetes. - Experience building observable systems, including with tools such as Prometheus or Grafana. - A record of taking systems from initial design to production impact, including work with machine learning systems.
Nice to have - Trust and safety, content moderation, integrity engineering, or MLOps experience. - Familiarity with SQL, data analysis, streaming or event-driven systems, and modern frontend frameworks.
Benefits and work setup The role is remote and can be performed globally, with optional offices in London, New York, San Francisco, and Warsaw. Support includes professional development and coworking stipends, an annual team gathering, and a stipend for meeting colleagues.
