Job details
About this role
Role overview
Lead product strategy and delivery for a grant-management platform used by nonprofits, higher education institutions, and public-sector organizations. The position calls for a hands-on product leader to shape a multi-year direction, reconcile parallel product offerings, improve self-serve growth, and make grant workflows more useful through shared data and applied AI.
Responsibilities
- Set and communicate a 12–18 month roadmap grounded in customer research, product analytics, competitive context, and business goals. - Guide consolidation of two platform versions, including feature alignment, migration tools, customer communications, and a transition timeline. - Improve activation, conversion, retention, and account expansion by finding friction in the free-to-paid journey and refining product tiers. - Lead competitive migrations by improving data imports, mapping, onboarding, and the initial customer experience. - Develop connections between grant seekers and grant makers, such as shared data flows and reduced duplicate entry. - Explore public filing data and applied AI for better funding matches and time-saving writing support, with clear confidence and provenance signals. - Run discovery and delivery practices across design, engineering, and go-to-market, including interviews, usability research, win/loss reviews, and support-ticket analysis.
Requirements
- At least eight years of software product management experience with revenue responsibility for a B2B SaaS product. - Direct product-led growth experience, including freemium tiers, self-serve onboarding, and activation or retention measurement. - Strong analytical skills and comfort building and interpreting funnel views directly. - Evidence of making difficult prioritization decisions and explaining trade-offs clearly. - Strong written communication for specifications, decision records, and product strategy. - Experience shipping iteratively with design and engineering, and comfort working amid ambiguity.
Nice to have
- Experience in grants, nonprofit technology, fundraising, higher education administration, or public-sector compliance. - Platform consolidation, customer migration, competitive displacement, or migration tooling experience. - Applied AI or machine learning work in search, matching, recommendations, or document generation; fintech or marketplace experience is also relevant.
Benefits and work setup
- Full-time role for candidates on the U.S. East Coast, with preference for the New York City area; others should be able to travel to Manhattan for in-person collaboration as needed. - Salary ranges from $150,000 to $200,000 depending on location. - Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, flexible time off, paid sick leave, 12 weeks of paid parental leave, learning and internet stipends, a home-office setup stipend, 401(k) matching, and eligibility for stock options.
