Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)

Role overview

This senior site reliability role focuses on application observability and production readiness in Microsoft Azure environments. The engineer will partner with development teams to make services easier to monitor, diagnose, and operate, while improving reliability through telemetry, alerting, and lessons from incidents. The position is remote in Peru, Colombia, Bolivia, or Costa Rica.

Responsibilities

- Work with developers to implement monitoring, alerts, dashboards, and application performance instrumentation across services. - Configure and improve APM and observability using tools such as Azure Monitor, Application Insights, New Relic, and Log Analytics with KQL. - Enable code-level instrumentation, distributed tracing, and structured logging to improve visibility into application behavior. - Define service indicators, objectives, health metrics, and alert strategies around latency, errors, traffic, and resource saturation. - Review services before release to identify operational risks, observability gaps, and likely failure scenarios. - Support incident investigation and follow-up improvements, using production findings to strengthen reliability and readiness.

Requirements

- At least 5 years in site reliability engineering, cloud operations, or a related field, including hands-on Azure IaaS operations. - At least 1 year of practical experience with dbt, Databricks, and SQL. - Applied experience with application monitoring, observability, and reliability engineering. - Experience with APM platforms and dashboarding or monitoring using Azure Monitor, Application Insights, or KQL-based Log Analytics. - Familiarity with CI/CD environments such as Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions, and with cloud-native distributed systems. - Ability to investigate root causes, prevent recurring issues, and communicate clearly in English with distributed teams.

Nice to have

- PowerShell or Bash scripting and automation. - Knowledge of cloud scalability, availability, resilience, and production readiness practices, particularly at enterprise scale.
