Full Stack Developer – Java & React

Role overview

Build and evolve web applications across Java backend services and React interfaces. You’ll contribute throughout the feature lifecycle, from design and implementation to testing, review, and deployment, while helping shape API, security, and integration practices. The role is full time and hybrid in Lisbon, with three days per week on site; applicants must be based in Portugal.

Responsibilities

- Design and develop scalable Java microservices for checkout, account, and order processing features. - Build and maintain modern web application features using React. - Design, implement, and consume REST and GraphQL APIs, and maintain OpenAPI documentation. - Support identity and access management, including authentication and authorization patterns. - Develop event-driven integrations using messaging services, and apply code quality and security checks. - Take part in architecture discussions, testing, code reviews, and deployments; share knowledge and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

- At least four years of professional Java and React development experience, or equivalent full-stack experience. - Strong experience building Java backend services and microservices, and developing React applications. - Experience designing and using REST APIs and working with GraphQL. - Understanding of identity and access management, including OIDC, role-based access control, and token-based authentication. - Experience with event-driven systems and messaging; familiarity with AWS SQS and Solace is relevant. - Familiarity with application security and code quality practices, plus collaboration across engineering teams.

Nice to have

- Experience with Keycloak or Okta for identity management, and SonarQube or Snyk for quality and security checks. - Experience contributing to architectural decisions, engineering standards, and knowledge sharing.
