Senior Database Reliability Engineer

Role overview Keep large production PostgreSQL environments reliable, secure, and responsive. This senior database operations role covers routine administration, lifecycle management, recovery readiness, and production incident support across Linux and cloud-hosted deployments.

Responsibilities - Monitor and maintain production PostgreSQL databases, including instances of 250 GB or more. - Handle patching, upgrades, vacuuming, reindexing, and statistics maintenance. - Manage backups, restores, and disaster recovery procedures; regularly test recovery plans. - Diagnose performance problems, locks, contention, and failed jobs, and help application teams tune queries and plan schema or release changes. - Manage access, capacity, storage, migrations, and database changes while minimizing downtime. - Document operating procedures and configurations, and take part in production on-call rotations.

Requirements - At least seven years in senior database administration or database engineering. - Hands-on PostgreSQL administration, including backup and recovery and performance tuning. - Experience operating and maintaining large production databases, with a strong grasp of database security, access controls, and compliance practices. - Strong Linux administration skills and experience with monitoring and performance diagnostics. - Proficiency in SQL and a scripting language such as Bash or Python. - Familiarity with cloud database services and strong organizational and documentation skills.

Nice to have Experience with auditing or governance frameworks, ETL or reporting systems, high availability and failover, other database platforms, or enterprise and regulated environments.
