Infrastructure Operations Engineer

Role overview Maintain and improve infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments as part of an internal technology operations team. This hands-on role focuses on reliable, secure services: resolving complex incidents, supporting Windows and Azure systems, automating routine work and helping new services transition into operations.

Responsibilities - Monitor, maintain and troubleshoot server, storage and network systems. - Deploy and improve Azure services, including virtual machines, networking, storage, monitoring and, where relevant, Azure Virtual Desktop. - Apply cloud governance, cost controls and scaling practices, and continually improve infrastructure operations in line with ITIL. - Administer Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL databases, monitoring performance and managing backups and restores. - Manage identity and access through user- and group-based controls, and contribute to infrastructure security and resilience. - Automate operational tasks, take ownership of key services and collaborate across technology and cybersecurity teams.

Requirements - Experience in infrastructure operations and systems administration across cloud and on-premises environments. - Practical knowledge of Azure infrastructure and Windows services. - Ability to troubleshoot complex incidents and improve service reliability and security. - Experience with automation, identity management and access controls. - Database operations experience, particularly with Microsoft SQL Server or Azure SQL. - Familiarity with ITIL-based service improvement.
