Optimization Consultant (m/f/d)

Role overview Help organizations turn complex planning and decision problems into optimization models and practical solutions. You’ll guide customer discussions, assess which problems can be addressed, and deliver proofs of concept and projects through to clear results. The role combines consulting, technical modeling, and collaboration with product and research teams; quantum optimization is part of the domain, with deeper research expertise available from colleagues.

Responsibilities - Prepare for customer meetings and workshops by clarifying the underlying problem and defining realistic outcomes. - Join customer discussions and shape the technical solution and project approach. - Translate business problems into optimization models with well-defined objectives, constraints, and classical baselines. - Deliver proofs of concept and customer projects from initial analysis through reporting. - Use the team’s optimization platform and relay customer learnings to inform its development. - Contribute to projects, including research collaborations with industry and academic partners.

Requirements - Strong ability to analyze planning or decision problems and frame them as optimization tasks. - Skill in developing models with clear objectives, defensible constraints, and appropriate baseline comparisons. - Ability to communicate technical concepts and realistic outcomes to customers. - Readiness to learn enough about quantum optimization to explain its relevance in customer contexts. - Interest in delivering practical solutions and collaborating across customer, product, and research work.
