Remote job
Junior Quantum Algorithm Engineer, Working Student (m/f/d)
Job details
About this role
Role overview Build and evaluate quantum algorithms for optimization, then integrate them into software used in real applications. This working-student role spans research implementation and practical quantum software, with a focus on gate-based circuits and the steps needed to run them on quantum hardware.
Responsibilities - Implement optimization circuits, particularly QAOA and related methods. - Explore circuit compilation, including transpilation, qubit routing and error mitigation. - Translate approaches from research papers into code and assess their performance. - Integrate working methods into an optimization platform used by customers. - Collaborate with the team on its quantum software stack.
Requirements - Current enrollment in a relevant degree such as physics, computer science or mathematics; later bachelor’s or master’s study is a good fit. - A sound grounding in quantum computing from coursework, research or personal projects. - Practical experience building quantum circuits with Qiskit or a comparable framework. - Python skills and care for readable, maintainable code. - Availability to work from Munich or remotely from elsewhere in Germany. - Willingness to ask questions and learn from feedback.
Nice to have - Familiarity with QAOA, transpilation or error correction, or relevant thesis work.
Benefits and work setup - Flexible arrangements to accommodate study schedules and exam periods. - Work on software that reaches customers, with exposure to both quantum research and production engineering. - Opportunity to influence the direction of the quantum software stack. - Munich office, team events and a fitness membership.
