Forward Deployed Software Engineer, JBLM (Active Clearance)

Role overview Build and deploy software for mission-critical operations, working closely with users to solve challenges that arise in real-world environments. The work spans distributed software, data interfaces, networking, system integration, and releases, with responsibility for delivery from understanding user needs through deployment and ongoing system health.

Responsibilities - Develop and maintain software for mesh platforms, data interfaces, and customer releases. - Design for reliability, scale, portability, testability, and maintainability; take part in code and design reviews. - Work with end users to turn operational needs into features while balancing usability and engineering constraints. - Coordinate with multiple teams to plan, build, and test cross-functional capabilities. - Monitor system health, investigate production issues, identify root causes, and coordinate fixes. - Travel approximately 10–30% to work with users and teammates, assess operating conditions, and build, test, or deploy systems in the field.

Requirements - Hold an active U.S. Secret clearance and be able to maintain it. - Have a strong engineering background, through work or education, in fields such as software, computer science, networking, mathematics, or physics. - Bring roughly 3 or more years of experience programming in languages such as Go, Python, Java, C++, or Rust. - Have built software involving substantial data processing or analysis and be able to navigate complex existing systems. - Be motivated to develop software with direct real-world impact.

Nice to have Experience designing distributed systems, working with challenging network conditions, or delivering software in a fast-moving environment is valued. Familiarity with cloud platforms, infrastructure and security fundamentals, software delivery practices such as version control and continuous integration, and monitoring or logging tools is also useful.
