A Staff Site Reliability Engineer role focused on building and operating scalable cloud infrastructure across globally distributed platforms. The position sits within a cloud infrastructure and operations team and emphasizes Linux/UNIX systems expertise, container orchestration, and security-focused automation. This is a remote position based in the Netherlands.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain highly scalable infrastructure using KVM-based Linux, Kubernetes, and public cloud providers - Analyze and troubleshoot system performance issues across operating systems and application layers - Maintain platform security and observability through nftables and monitoring tooling - Deploy and manage systems and software across diverse environments, including Kubernetes and OpenStack - Develop automation tooling in Python, Golang, and Bash - Manage firewall technologies and secure access across global platforms
Requirements
- 5+ years in Linux/UNIX system administration or similar roles - Hands-on experience with container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and automation tools such as Ansible - Strong foundation in networking fundamentals: DHCP, ARP, subnetting, routing, NAT, firewalls, IPv4, and IPv6 - Working knowledge of security frameworks including PGP, SSH, PKI, and multi-factor authentication - Solid understanding of web security, protocols, and SSH - Demonstrated curiosity about AI tools and a track record of integrating them into daily workflows
Nice to have
- Extensive experience with OpenStack and CEPH - Deep Linux expertise from dedicated SysAdmin roles - Proficiency with secrets management systems such as HashiCorp Vault
