Sr. Data Center Operations Engineer

Role overview A senior infrastructure role supporting the physical layer of a global cloud security platform, focused on deploying and maintaining production data center environments. The position is remote with a Houston, TX base and reports to a Director within the Network Infrastructure organization. Expect significant hands-on fieldwork, vendor management, and up to half-time domestic and international travel.

Responsibilities - Execute physical rack-and-stack deployments, structured cabling, and full hardware lifecycle management across production data centers. - Triage, troubleshoot, and remediate hardware and network faults, including component swaps and cabling repairs. - Work operational ticket queues end to end, driving scheduled maintenance windows and urgent break/fix activities. - Coordinate with engineering teams, system owners, and third-party Remote Hands technicians to validate installations and changes. - Maintain detailed asset tracking documentation and keep records audit-ready. - Support up to 50% domestic and international travel to distributed sites.

Requirements - Five or more years working inside production data center environments, with experience directing remote vendor teams. - Deep familiarity with diverse server platforms, network hardware, optics, fiber plants, and copper cabling standards. - Proficiency with Linux or Unix command-line interfaces, BIOS configuration, and out-of-band management tools such as iLO, iDRAC, and IPMI. - Experience applying AI-assisted tools, scripting, or automation to streamline operational workflows and diagnostics. - U.S. citizenship, required due to the nature of the assigned customer environments. - Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds repeatedly to support physical deployments.

Nice to have - Comfort applying AI-assisted engineering tools to system diagnostics, infrastructure automation, and operational documentation. - Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 50%.

Benefits and work setup - Base salary range of $91,200 to $114,000 USD, plus benefits and other compensation where applicable. - Hybrid or remote working model with structured travel expectations.
