Senior Software Engineer in Test
Job details
About this role
Role overview Own quality verification and validation for complex software, from early design decisions through production releases. You’ll work with engineering, product, design, and other partners to build quality into development, strengthen test practices, and help shape an evolving verification and release approach.
Responsibilities - Create and carry out test strategies that cover requirements, architecture, user needs, edge cases, and failure scenarios. - Build and maintain automated checks for backend APIs and integrations, as well as frontend interfaces and end-to-end flows. - Find gaps in test coverage, investigate defects and incidents, and work with teams to address root causes and prevent recurrence. - Integrate testing into continuous delivery pipelines and improve test reliability, speed, and efficiency. - Apply AI-assisted tools to test design, debugging, and repetitive quality tasks; assess AI-generated engineering work with the same rigor as other changes. - Mentor engineers and promote consistent quality practices across teams.
Requirements - At least eight years in quality engineering, test automation, or SDET work, including ownership of quality for complex production systems. - Strong programming skills, ideally in TypeScript or JavaScript, and experience creating backend and frontend automation frameworks. - Broad understanding of unit, integration, end-to-end, contract, and regression testing, along with CI/CD pipelines. - Experience with test data, mocks or stubs, and systematic debugging of software and architecture risks. - Demonstrated use of AI-assisted development tools, with sound judgment about quality, security, and maintainability. - Clear communication, a preventive quality mindset, and experience mentoring others; comfortable taking ownership amid evolving processes.
Nice to have - Experience with performance testing, behavior-driven development, or microservice architectures.
Benefits and work setup - Remote-first for employees based in the United States, with an option to work from a Manhattan office. - The listed annual base pay range is $146,000–$157,000; additional compensation and benefits may be available. Visa sponsorship is not available.
