Role overview
A migration-focused data engineering role centered on lifting legacy Oracle-based data processing into a modern cloud analytics stack. The work blends hands-on engineering with reverse-engineering of existing business logic, AI-assisted modernization, and close collaboration across architecture, analytics, and platform teams.
Responsibilities
- Translate existing Oracle SQL and PL/SQL business logic into cloud-native equivalents - Build, test, and maintain transformation pipelines using BigQuery and dbt - Use AI and generative AI tooling to accelerate code conversion, documentation, and migration activities - Validate that business rules behave consistently across the source and target platforms - Implement new logic around customer record grouping and identification, laying the groundwork for future Golden Record capabilities - Develop, optimize, and document data processing solutions on Google Cloud - Collaborate with architects, business analysts, data owners, and platform engineers throughout delivery
Requirements
- Hands-on experience building data solutions on Google Cloud Platform - Working knowledge of BigQuery for large-scale analytics workloads - Practical experience with dbt for data transformation and modeling - Background migrating processing logic away from legacy systems toward cloud environments - Ability to read, interpret, and reason about complex business logic in existing codebases - Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical documentation habits - Clear communication skills and a collaborative working style
Nice to have
- Prior experience with Oracle databases and PL/SQL development or analysis - Familiarity with AI or GenAI tools applied to code modernization or documentation generation - Understanding of customer master data management, record matching, or grouping concepts - Exposure to Golden Record or similar master data initiatives - Background in banking or financial services
