Data Engineer

Role overview Join a consulting and software development team that partners with major banks and insurance organizations across Western Europe to deliver transformation initiatives in financial services technology. As a Data Engineer, you will design and operate pipelines on a cloud data platform within a regulated environment, connecting priority source systems, shaping enterprise data models, and preparing data for analytics, APIs, and AI workloads. The position blends hands-on engineering with collaboration across architecture, business, and governance functions.

Responsibilities - Support the agile delivery of data-engineering solutions from requirements gathering through development, testing, deployment, and operational handover - Implement ingestion and onboarding of priority data sources into the Azure Databricks Bronze layer and build transformations into an enterprise data model (Silver layer) - Translate source-to-target mappings and business rules into efficient, traceable, reusable pipelines, including use-case-specific pre- and post-processing logic - Apply data-quality, metadata, lineage, access management, and governance controls (covering Okta and Microsoft Purview) throughout platform delivery - Enable consumption of data products through APIs, MCP interfaces, Power BI, and other approved use cases, including defect resolution and ongoing operational support

Requirements - Completed university degree in computer science, business information systems, engineering, natural sciences, or a comparable discipline - At least three years of hands-on development experience with SQL and Python, including data transformation and integration work - Practical experience with Azure Databricks, data-lake and data-warehouse concepts, Bronze/Silver processing, and enterprise data models - Familiarity with APIs and MCP interfaces, and with data-governance requirements covering access controls, data-loss prevention, metadata, lineage, and data quality - Experience analyzing legacy or heterogeneous source data, translating business rules into technical transformations, and supporting reusable data products for reporting, analytics, or AI - Fluent English; German is a strong plus
