GCP Data Engineer

Role overview

A cloud-focused data engineering role centered on building and operating scalable data lakehouse solutions on Google Cloud Platform. Responsibilities

- Develop and maintain multi-tier lakehouse layers following medallion-style architecture - Build and tune data transformation workflows using dbt and PySpark - Design, schedule, and monitor pipelines with Apache Airflow - Improve BigQuery query performance and contribute to FinOps cost-optimization initiatives - Manage cloud infrastructure through Terraform and maintain CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions - Apply security and governance practices such as IAM, RBAC/ABAC, policy tagging, and data loss prevention - Use Dataplex for cataloging, metadata management, and data lineage - Collaborate with stakeholders and engineering teams to deliver dependable, well-documented data solutions

Requirements

- Hands-on experience building transformations with dbt - Practical experience orchestrating workflows in Apache Airflow - Strong Python programming skills for data engineering tasks - Experience with PySpark for distributed data processing - Solid background designing and operating BigQuery at scale - Familiarity with lakehouse and medallion architecture concepts - Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform - Comfort with GitHub Actions and CI/CD implementation - Understanding of data security concepts including IAM, RBAC/ABAC, policy tagging, and DLP - Ability to participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering standards - Strong communication and teamwork skills across cross-functional groups
