Data Architect

Role overview A consulting team delivering transformation work for international banks and insurers is hiring an experienced Data Architect to lead a regulated data-platform programme. The position blends target-state architecture with hands-on delivery, shaping how priority sources are onboarded into a governed Azure foundation and consumed downstream. You will set patterns, mentor engineers, and bridge business, governance, security, and operations stakeholders.

Responsibilities - Lead end-to-end conceptual and technical design of the data-platform architecture, from source assessment and business requirements through integration and operational handover. - Define and govern Azure Databricks patterns for onboarding priority sources into the Bronze layer and curating them into the client's Enterprise Data Model at the Silver layer, including use-case-specific pre- and post-processing. - Establish reusable patterns for data modelling, ETL/ELT, APIs, and MCP interfaces, and embed access management plus metadata, lineage, data-quality, and data-loss-prevention controls. - Guide legacy-data decoupling and migration, challenge design decisions where needed, and own architecture choices across sourcing, transformation, and data-product delivery. - Collaborate with business domains, data engineering, governance, security, and operations to maintain architecture documentation and support knowledge transfer and production readiness.

Requirements - University degree in computer science, business information systems, engineering, natural sciences, or a comparable discipline, with several years of experience designing enterprise data architectures and governed cloud platforms in regulated financial services. - Hands-on Azure Databricks expertise covering source onboarding, Bronze and Silver layers, enterprise data models, ETL/ELT, and data-storage concepts. - Strong conceptual and logical data-modelling skills with practical SQL, data-structures, APIs, and MCP-interface knowledge. - Familiarity with data-governance requirements including access controls, metadata, lineage, data-loss prevention, and identity-management tooling such as Okta and Microsoft Purview. - Experience integrating legacy or on-premises sources into cloud platforms and packaging trusted data into reusable products for reporting, APIs, analytics, or AI. - Fluent English; German is advantageous for business-facing work, with willingness to travel as projects require.

Nice to have - Asset-management or investment-management background. - Confidence engaging business stakeholders in a second language.
