Staff Software Engineer

Role overview Serve as a senior technical leader for a cloud-native platform spanning registration, phone numbers, number intelligence, and customer verification capabilities. Guide the design and evolution of highly concurrent backend services, improve system performance and reliability, and help raise engineering standards across teams.

Responsibilities - Set technical direction for distributed backend systems and own significant architectural decisions. - Ensure platform designs support scale, reliability, and long-term maintainability. - Lead performance investigations and resolve complex system-level issues. - Establish testing practices across unit, integration, and smoke testing to support automated releases. - Define and promote coding standards and engineering practices. - Mentor engineers and work with product and engineering leaders to align technical plans with business needs. - Participate in an out-of-hours on-call rotation.

Requirements - Extensive experience building and maintaining enterprise systems at scale, especially concurrent, distributed architectures. - Strong Go experience, or deep Java/Spring expertise and a clear commitment to adopting Go. - Proven ownership of architectural decisions across teams and prior team or technical leadership experience. - Experience with containerized applications and cloud-native infrastructure. - Advanced performance profiling and optimization skills, with experience in relational and non-relational databases such as PostgreSQL and Redis. - Strong communication and influencing skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have - Hands-on experience with AWS services, Kafka, Kubernetes, or Terraform. - Experience establishing continuous delivery in cloud environments or familiarity with telecommunications.
