About this role
Role overview
Design, operate, and improve secure, highly available network infrastructure across cloud and enterprise environments. The work combines hands-on AWS and traditional networking with automation, production support, and technical leadership during complex incidents. The position is remote, with possible scheduled visits to an office.
Responsibilities
- Build and run network connectivity across cloud regions, data centers, partners, and external networks, including AWS VPC, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, VPN, DNS, routing, and load balancing. - Configure and troubleshoot routing, segmentation, firewalls, NAT, VPNs, and connectivity or performance problems. - Lead investigation of incidents involving latency, packet loss, routing, or service reachability; support root cause reviews and production changes. - Design for resilience, security, redundancy, scale, and disaster recovery. - Automate network configuration and improve monitoring, alerting, observability, and capacity management. - Maintain operational documentation and network diagrams, collaborate across technical teams and providers, and participate in an on-call rotation.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience designing and troubleshooting large enterprise or cloud networks. - Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, routing and switching, DNS, NAT, VPNs, segmentation, and load balancing. - Practical experience with AWS networking, enterprise firewalls, and hybrid cloud or data center connectivity. - Ability to diagnose complex network issues using packet captures, flow logs, telemetry, or traffic analysis. - Experience with network monitoring, infrastructure automation or scripting, and operating highly available production systems. - Familiarity with incident, change, and problem management, plus the ability to work across infrastructure, security, cloud, and application teams.
Nice to have
- AWS networking experience across large multi-account or multi-region environments. - Familiarity with enterprise networking platforms, carrier circuits, colocation, partner connectivity, or large-scale infrastructure automation. - Experience with Kubernetes networking, distributed systems, network capacity planning, or performance engineering.
