Role overview
A long-term, highly senior individual-contributor engagement inside a fast-growing, technology-driven financial services organization. The role operates as a peer to experienced engineering teams, shaping architecture, identifying technical risk, and solving complex ambiguous problems across payments, banking, ledgers, and related regulated platforms. It is full-time, ideally based in EMEA, and requires meaningful overlap with Dubai / Gulf Standard Time (UTC+4), with a possible relocation to Dubai depending on mutual fit.
Responsibilities
- Work alongside senior engineering and technology stakeholders to resolve complex, ambiguous technical problems in financial systems. - Shape and review architecture for highly scalable, secure, and reliable platforms spanning payments, transaction processing, ledgers, and banking infrastructure. - Investigate complex production issues beyond surface-level troubleshooting and surface underlying risks and improvement opportunities. - Challenge technical assumptions constructively and deliver clear, actionable recommendations. - Participate in architecture and code reviews with highly experienced engineers. - Drive initiatives end-to-end from problem definition through solution, with minimal task decomposition or supervision. - Establish engineering best practices around reliability, security, observability, and operational excellence, and mentor experienced engineers through hands-on collaboration.
Requirements
- 15+ years of relevant software engineering experience, with a track record at Staff, Principal, Architect, or equivalent senior IC level. - Deep experience designing, building, and owning complex production systems in financial services, such as banking, payments, transaction processing, ledgers, or regulated financial infrastructure. - Strong AWS expertise, particularly in complex production and regulated environments. - Hands-on depth in reliability, security, observability, infrastructure architecture, and operating production workloads under regulatory constraints. - Ability to independently frame problems, investigate deeply, identify non-obvious risks, and drive solutions. - Strong communication skills and comfort working as a technical peer with other senior engineers. - Willingness to constructively challenge existing technical decisions and transfer knowledge across the engineering organization.

- Experience with cross-border financial infrastructure or other production-critical, high-stakes financial systems. - Background mentoring senior engineers and raising the technical bar across a wider organization.
