Backend Engineer (Node.js / APIs)

Role overview This position involves designing and maintaining the APIs, data layer, and integrations that serve as the foundation for admin panels, client portals, and automations. The work demands backend systems that remain accurate and performant as client numbers and data volumes expand.

Responsibilities - Architect and develop APIs consumed by frontends, mobile apps, and automations - Design data models that stay clean and maintain query performance as datasets grow - Build integrations with third-party platforms such as CRMs, help desks, and messaging tools - Write production-grade code with thorough error handling, logging, and test coverage - Conduct code reviews and contribute to keeping the backend consistent as the team grows

Requirements - Demonstrated experience building and shipping production APIs with Node.js and TypeScript - Comfort working with MongoDB or similar databases, including judgment around when to denormalize - Strong awareness of failure modes, particularly when third-party APIs are slow or unavailable - Ability to work independently with clear written communication

Nice to have - Experience with queues, webhooks, or event-driven architectures - Background building integrations with CRMs, help desks, or messaging platforms
