Senior Data Engineer

Role overview Build and evolve reliable data solutions for an education-focused organization that supports financial literacy and practical life skills. You’ll own complex work from design through production, make sound architectural choices, and help improve the data platform in line with business needs.

Responsibilities - Lead complex data engineering projects with limited direction. - Design, build, and document scalable data pipelines and models. - Improve existing workflows and identify opportunities for automation and modernization. - Review technical risks and performance, and recommend practical improvements. - Support other engineers through code reviews and technical guidance.

Requirements - At least five years of relevant experience; seven or more is preferred. - Strong Snowflake experience, including performance tuning and modern platform capabilities. - Experience building and maintaining ELT pipelines with dbt. - Experience orchestrating workflows with Apache Airflow or a comparable platform. - Familiarity with reporting and visualization tools such as Sigma, Tableau, or Power BI. - Solid knowledge of dimensional modeling, data warehousing, and analytics engineering practices.

Nice to have - Experience preparing scalable, high-quality data foundations for AI and machine learning applications, including with Snowflake Cortex AI.

Benefits and work setup - Fully remote, full-time contract role (40 hours per week), open to candidates in Latin America and Eastern Europe. - Work an eight-hour day aligned with US Eastern business hours, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. - Initial four-month independent contractor agreement, with possible extension based on performance and ongoing needs. - Payment in USD, available biweekly or monthly.
