Data Engineer/Architect
Job details
About this role
Role overview Design and build a data foundation for large-scale analysis and generative AI applications, including retrieval-augmented generation. The work combines architecture and hands-on development: defining data structures, access controls, and supporting tools, then documenting the design so technical teams can implement it and stakeholders can understand its capabilities.
Responsibilities - Design and implement data platforms, including ETL pipelines and lake, lakehouse, or mesh architectures. - Define schemas and ontologies for data from varied structured and unstructured sources. - Build data services and workflows that support RAG, analytics, and AI-enabled applications. - Develop row- and cell-level access controls and tools for secure data use. - Write integration and application code in Python or JavaScript, and document architecture and data definitions. - Work with product owners and stakeholders to shape technical solutions and explain them to nontechnical audiences.
Requirements - At least five years designing systems and ETL processes for analyzing large, diverse data sets. - At least five years applying AI concepts such as RAG, prompt and context engineering, and workflow orchestration. - Experience configuring and integrating AI agents into automated workflows. - Hands-on development experience with Python or JavaScript, including Python-based services. - Ability to develop data analysis tools and intelligent systems that identify patterns and support decisions. - Strong written and verbal communication; relevant science, engineering, or technology education and experience, or equivalent experience in place of a degree. - U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance.
Nice to have - Experience with Dagster, PostgreSQL, Alembic, pgvector, vector search, embeddings, or RAG applications. - Familiarity with digital engineering tools such as SysML, Medallion architecture, and operational support or DevOps for data platforms. - Current Secret clearance.
Benefits and work setup The role is remote. Scope and compensation are adjusted to the selected candidate’s background and expertise; the listed pay range is $107,900–$195,050. Interview candidates should expect to keep their camera on; an identification photo may be taken if an offer is extended.
