Senior Product Manager, Payments Gateway

Role overview Own the strategy and performance of a payment gateway platform that moves transactions from authorization through settlement. You’ll set its roadmap, shape the connections to processors and payment networks, and work with engineering and partner teams to make payment experiences reliable, scalable and cost-effective across markets.

Responsibilities - Set a multi-year gateway roadmap, balancing near-term improvements with foundational platform investment. - Track and improve authorization and payment success rates, declines, retries, uptime, latency and processing costs. - Define the APIs, SDKs, hosted payment pages, webhooks and configuration tools used by product teams and partners. - Lead processor and acquirer evaluations, certifications and launches; translate network requirements into product work. - Guide capabilities across the transaction lifecycle, including authorization, capture, refunds, disputes and settlement. - Lead engineering delivery, make platform trade-offs with technical partners, and explore machine learning or agent-based approaches for optimization and support.

Requirements - At least six years in payments or fintech product management, including three or more years owning a gateway, processing, orchestration or PSP platform. - Experience building or substantially scaling gateway capabilities in production. - Strong understanding of transaction flows, ISO 8583, tokenization, interchange, chargebacks, settlement and failover. - Evidence of improving payment performance, processing cost, reliability or latency using measurable results. - Experience with global payments, including multi-currency processing, local payment methods, PCI DSS, PSD2/SCA and card network rules. - Ability to lead engineering teams through prioritization, architectural decisions and delivery; hands-on familiarity with AI or machine learning in payment workflows.

Benefits and work setup - Remote role; the listing gives an annual salary range of $180,000–$200,000.
