Role overview Serve as a hands-on Technical Director for a cloud and DevOps consulting practice in Canada, blending architecture leadership, delivery oversight, and client advisory work. The role guides enterprise modernization, AI-enabled automation, and platform engineering initiatives across multiple engagements while mentoring technical staff.
Responsibilities - Define technical vision, architecture strategies, and best practices for cloud and DevOps engagements, and lead the design of large-scale cloud-native solutions on Microsoft Azure. - Establish engineering standards, governance frameworks, security controls, and operational excellence practices across delivery teams. - Lead the design of Agentic AI solutions using modern orchestration frameworks, large language models, copilots, and intelligent agents, and help clients identify automation opportunities. - Drive cloud adoption, modernization, and migration programs, including CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, observability, and reliability engineering. - Act as a trusted advisor to client executives and technology leaders, supporting pre-sales, discovery workshops, proposal development, and executive-level delivery communication. - Mentor architects, engineers, and technical managers, and contribute to capability development within the practice.
Requirements - At least 10 years of experience in software engineering, cloud architecture, platform engineering, or DevOps. - At least 5 years in technical leadership, architecture leadership, or consulting leadership roles. - Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure services, architecture patterns, governance, security, and operations. - Strong experience delivering enterprise applications with Next.js, React, and modern web architectures. - Proven experience implementing or architecting Agentic AI, AI-enabled automation, autonomous workflows, copilots, or advanced AI solution frameworks. - Strong client-facing consulting experience with executive stakeholder management, plus background in cloud-native architectures, microservices, containers, and distributed systems.
Nice to have - Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Azure DevOps Engineer Expert certification. - Experience with Azure OpenAI Service and enterprise AI platform implementations, or with platform engineering and internal developer platforms. - Background in consulting, digital transformation, or systems integration, and experience leading distributed global delivery teams.
Benefits and work setup - Four-month temporary position based in Canada. - Hourly rate of CAD $90 to $98 depending on experience and location.
