Freelance Business Analyst (Data)

Role overview Translate finance and business needs into detailed data requirements for a solution that converts loyalty and other source data into accounting outputs, including journals and reports. You’ll work across Finance, product and engineering to define the logic and mappings that guide implementation, then help keep them accurate as the work progresses. The engagement is full-time freelance, with an expected duration of six months.

Responsibilities - Define data requirements with Finance product teams and architecture stakeholders. - Document calculations, allocations and transaction rules in precise, testable language. - Prepare source-to-target specifications covering field mappings, transformations and reference data. - Write Jira requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria that engineers can implement and testers can verify. - Maintain traceability from business needs through requirements, mappings and design as requirements evolve. - Identify gaps and unusual data cases, collaborate with product and delivery colleagues, validate completed work and support Finance walkthroughs and sign-off.

Requirements - Business analysis experience on data-focused initiatives, such as data platforms, warehouses or migrations. - Experience defining detailed business logic and data mapping logic. - Strong written communication and experience creating and managing requirements in Jira. - Working knowledge of SQL and ability to understand data structures, tables and fields. - Experience delivering in an Agile team with evolving requirements. - Ability to work effectively with technical and business stakeholders.

Nice to have - Experience with Databricks or a similar cloud data platform. - Background in finance, revenue accounting or journal production. - Familiarity with loyalty, airline or travel data, or event-driven and streaming systems.
