Role overview Lead two engineering squads responsible for loan servicing systems at an AI-driven lending marketplace. The Senior Engineering Manager partners with Product, Risk, and Operations to deliver resilient, compliant platforms that guide borrowers from funding through final repayment. This remote role reports to a Senior Director of Engineering and balances hands-on architectural leadership with people development.
Responsibilities - Manage and grow 12 or more engineers across two squads, including emerging engineering leaders. - Set multi-quarter technical strategy for servicing products aligned with company priorities. - Translate borrower needs and business goals into scalable system designs. - Drive architectural clarity and well-justified technical decisions across complex services. - Foster a culture of ownership, operational excellence, and cross-functional collaboration. - Hire, coach, and develop engineers and managers while building leadership pipeline. - Maintain clear visibility into priorities, delivery risks, trade-offs, and roadmap progress.
Requirements - 10 to 15 years of software engineering experience with 4 to 7 years managing engineers. - Deep expertise in distributed systems, APIs, and systems design. - Prior leadership experience in a regulated environment such as fintech, payments, or lending. - Demonstrated ability to define and deliver complex technical strategies tied to business outcomes. - Strong record of building high-performing teams and mentoring engineering leaders. - Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Nice to have - 7 or more years of engineering management experience. - Experience leading both product and platform-oriented teams. - Track record modernizing complex platforms while shipping customer-facing features. - Familiarity with applying AI or automation to customer experiences or operational workflows.
