Director, IT Engineering

Role overview A senior IT engineering leadership role within a non-profit healthcare education organization operating across multiple institutions and subsidiaries. The position sets the multi-year technology vision for cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, site reliability, endpoint management, automation, observability, and data platform infrastructure, partnering closely with Enterprise Architecture, Information Security, Compliance, and business leaders.

Responsibilities - Define the multi-year strategy, technical standards, and roadmap for platform, cloud, and reliability engineering - Build platform engineering from the ground up, including landing zones, infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, policy-as-code, and reusable services - Design and govern shared enterprise services that span institutions while respecting legal, regulatory, and contractual separation - Lead cloud, multi-tenant, and multi-entity architecture across compute, networking, identity, and SaaS environments - Establish site reliability engineering practices and operational resilience standards - Manage engineering talent development, budgets, vendors, and continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements - Proven experience leading enterprise-scale IT engineering organizations across cloud, platform, and reliability domains - Track record of building platform engineering capabilities from early stages through maturity - Familiarity with enterprise architecture principles for multi-entity, multi-jurisdictional environments - Strong background in cloud infrastructure, containers, identity, networking, and SaaS administration - Experience with site reliability engineering, observability, and incident management practices - Ability to partner effectively with Security, Compliance, Legal, Finance, and business stakeholders
