About this role
Role overview
A senior product leadership opportunity focused on shaping the direction and ongoing evolution of a portfolio of technically complex software products serving government and regulated clients. The role sits at the intersection of customer insight, engineering, architecture and commercial strategy, with responsibility for defining product outcomes rather than managing backlogs. It is fully remote within the UK and requires eligibility for Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance.
Responsibilities
- Own and communicate a clear product vision, strategy and outcome-focused roadmap aligned with customer, commercial and technical priorities. - Translate insight from users, customers, prospects and the wider market into prioritised product outcomes and reusable capabilities. - Balance customer-specific delivery, core platform investment, technical debt reduction and evergreening when prioritising work. - Partner with engineering, architecture, delivery and product oversight teams to clarify problems, intended outcomes and product context without prescribing technical solutions. - Protect the coherence and long-term sustainability of the product, reducing duplication and championing configurable capability over bespoke one-offs. - Support business development and commercial conversations with clear positioning, SWOT analysis and roadmap context.
Requirements
- Significant experience managing platform, infrastructure or otherwise technically complex software products. - Strong grounding in outcome-focused, user-centred product management and product lifecycle management. - Demonstrated ability to convert customer-specific requirements into reusable product capability. - Confidence working alongside software engineering, architecture and delivery teams, translating between customer, commercial and technical perspectives. - Sound judgement when making prioritisation decisions under incomplete evidence or competing priorities. - UK-based and eligible for DV security clearance, with the right to work in the UK.
Nice to have
- Background in enterprise, government, defence or other highly regulated sectors. - Familiarity with secure software delivery, DevSecOps, cloud platforms or service operations. - Exposure to product discovery, service design or user research techniques. - Experience using evidence, metrics and feedback to evaluate product performance. - Track record of working across multiple delivery teams or product components.
Benefits and work setup
- Salary of £90,000–£110,000 depending on experience. - Fully remote working within the UK. - 28 days' holiday plus bank holidays, with the option to buy or sell an additional week. - Annual bonus, 8% non-contributory pension, private healthcare and life insurance. - Income protection for up to five years and enhanced parental leave. - Flexible working, learning and development opportunities, and a supportive, inclusive team environment.
