Role overview
A senior engineering manager is sought to lead and grow a team of backend and full-stack engineers working on a treatment platform that spans nutrition, activity, and medication management. The role bridges healthcare, backend engineering, and system integrations, partnering closely with mobile, AI, product, design, and clinical operations teams. It combines people leadership with deep technical credibility in a remote, US-based setting with periodic travel for on-site planning.
Responsibilities
- Hire, coach, and develop a team of backend and full-stack engineers, owning performance management, career growth, and retention.
- Set a high engineering bar across system architecture, design reviews, automated testing, and production-grade observability.
- Champion AI-assisted engineering practices to improve team velocity and quality of delivery.
- Collaborate with product, design, and operations to translate requirements into a roadmap that delivers measurable user impact.
- Drive metrics-based prioritization using both business impact and platform health signals.
- Partner with the Core AI team to deliver features powered by Generative and Predictive AI.
- Participate in on-call rotations and travel periodically to a Menlo Park headquarters for planning workshops and team sessions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a STEM-related field; Master's preferred.
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years managing engineering teams with a track record of hiring and retaining strong engineers.
- Strong hands-on backend foundation across microservices, API design, SQL databases, and event-driven architectures, with the credibility to lead design reviews.
- Experience architecting and operating production systems at scale, including observability, on-call, incident management, and performance tuning.
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development workflows.
- Demonstrated success partnering with product, design, and operations stakeholders on roadmap governance and prioritization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; must be authorized to work in the US without visa sponsorship.

- Experience in healthcare or other HIPAA-regulated environments.
- Exposure to Generative AI or Predictive AI systems.
