About this role

Role overview

A Principal Product Designer is needed to own the end-to-end experience strategy for a mobile app that serves as the primary daily touchpoint for people managing chronic metabolic conditions. This is a high-craft, high-leadership role focused on inventing interaction patterns for agentic AI in healthcare—an area where established conventions do not yet exist. The position calls for original thinking, comfort with ambiguity, and the creative confidence to design AI experiences that act proactively on a user's behalf while balancing trust, transparency, and user control.

Responsibilities

- Identify and drive mission-critical design initiatives with significant long-term scope, shaping both product and business trajectory. - Pioneer agentic UX from 0 to 1 by designing new interaction patterns for AI systems that surface proactive guidance and operate with increasing autonomy. - Lead design strategy across interconnected member journeys, from onboarding through long-term behavior change, and align cross-functional partners around a shared quality bar. - Concept, prototype, and validate novel design patterns in uncharted problem spaces where there is no obvious prior art. - Serve as a design consultant across smaller-scale efforts, raising overall craft and consistency across the team. - Contribute to product roadmaps beyond immediate areas of ownership and influence broader business and design direction.

Requirements

- 10+ years of product or UX design experience with a portfolio demonstrating top-tier interaction, visual, and systems design. - Demonstrated experience designing agentic AI experiences where the system takes action or operates with agency rather than purely responding to input. - Proven 0-to-1 design history—creating original interaction patterns in spaces without prior art. - Recognized design thought leader with expert communication, storytelling, and stakeholder negotiation skills. - High degree of independence and ingenuity, with a track record of identifying and executing on new opportunities without waiting to be directed. - Bachelor's degree in Design, HCI, or a related field—or equivalent experience. Remote, U.S.-based; must be authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

- Hands-on experience using LLM prompting as part of a design or prototyping workflow. - Experience establishing design patterns for AI transparency, explainability, or human-in-the-loop interactions.

Benefits and work setup

- Base salary range of $220,000–$240,000 USD annually, plus equity participation. - Fully remote role within the U.S. - Unlimited vacation with manager approval. - 16 weeks of 100% paid parental leave for delivering parents; 8 weeks for non-delivering parents. - 100% employer-sponsored medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees, with 80% family coverage; HSA and FSA options. - 401(k) retirement savings plan.
