Role overview A contract InfraSec or Platform Engineer role focused on securing and operating AWS infrastructure that supports AI capabilities for a large federal program. The position combines cloud security, platform engineering, and data pipeline work to enable AI workflows across multiple application teams.
Responsibilities - Secure and operate the AWS environment supporting AI capabilities for a federal program - Manage underlying cloud infrastructure for the program's applications - Ingest and prepare documents and structured data essential for AI workflows - Establish infrastructure patterns that other engineers can follow and support multiple application teams - Implement monitoring, logging, and observability solutions across the stack - Apply identity, access, secrets, and cloud security best practices throughout the environment
Requirements - Experience supporting AI or ML models on AWS, including services like Amazon Bedrock and SageMaker, plus data pipelines - 3+ years in DevSecOps, Platform Engineering, SRE, or Cloud Infrastructure Engineering - Experience building and operating cloud-native applications on AWS - Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipeline development - Experience with Docker containerization and tools such as EKS or ECS orchestration - Strong Python skills with working SQL knowledge and pipeline-building experience
Benefits and work setup - 35 hours per week commitment with core hours from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM ET - Travel to Baltimore, MD, required twice annually - Hourly rate of $100 to $110 depending on experience - Contract runs through April 2027 with potential for extension - Remote-first organization with eligibility to work in the contiguous U.S. required - Federal background check may be required at the client's discretion; visa sponsorship not available
