Senior Python Engineer (2 months) – Global Digital Media

Role overview A senior Python engineer is needed for an approximately two-month engagement with a global audiobook and digital media company, focused on modernising internal platforms that support voice-talent workflows and worldwide title distribution. The role is roughly 70% backend and 30% frontend, suiting an independent contributor who can ramp up quickly inside an existing production codebase.

Responsibilities - Design, build, and maintain high-performing Python backend services that support global content distribution workflows. - Develop and enhance microservice-based applications and the REST APIs that connect internal enterprise systems. - Manage and optimise AWS cloud infrastructure and deployment pipelines used by the platform. - Troubleshoot, debug, and improve the performance of existing production services within a complex existing codebase. - Contribute to frontend application development and user interface functionality as project demands require. - Participate in code reviews, technical architectural discussions, and agile delivery planning alongside a distributed global engineering team.

Requirements - Senior-level professional experience focused primarily on Python backend development and microservices architecture. - Hands-on experience with AWS services, specifically ECS, S3, CodePipeline, and CodeBuild. - Extensive background designing, developing, and securely consuming REST APIs at scale. - Strong grasp of software architecture principles and scalable backend design. - Ability to work independently, ramp up rapidly, and deliver urgent value inside existing production codebases. - Excellent English communication skills for collaborating with distributed global teams. - Proficiency in JavaScript, with hands-on React experience considered a strong plus. - Familiarity with modern CI/CD practices and cloud-native development environments.

Nice to have - Prior experience on media, publishing, content distribution, or marketplace platforms. - Track record of success on short-term, high-urgency delivery projects.
