Role overview
This is a senior front-end engineering role focused on building a brand-new headless front-end for one of the most visited news sites in the world, with an aggressive launch goal early next year. The engineer will shape the architecture, set front-end standards, and integrate AI-assisted workflows inside a global news production environment reaching millions of readers. The position is based in Brazil and works remotely with a US-based team.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of a modern, headless front-end architecture for a high-traffic news platform. - Drive timely execution of key front-end releases to meet fast-paced launch milestones. - Define and advocate front-end engineering standards across code quality, component design patterns, testing, and code reviews. - Take direct ownership of Core Web Vitals, SEO, accessibility, and page speed performance across all user-facing surfaces. - Integrate scalable headless CMS solutions with next-generation in-house backend APIs. - Mentor mid-level engineers and partner with engineering leadership to drive architectural direction. - Leverage and continuously refine AI-assisted and agentic workflows within the engineering lifecycle.
Requirements
- 5+ years of senior-level front-end ownership on production systems. - Strong production experience with React and Next.js, including SSR, SSG, ISR, and App Router. - Fluent in writing clean, type-safe TypeScript as the primary language. - Proven experience connecting front-ends with headless CMS and APIs. - Strong grasp of Core Web Vitals, CDNs, caching, and asset optimization. - Daily usage of AI coding tools and agentic workflows. - Professional-level English for daily collaboration with a US team. - Residing in Brazil, given the role's regional scope.
