Job details
About this role
Role overview Lead a small engineering team responsible for the services that connect users’ financial accounts and provide current, accurate balances and transaction data. The role combines people leadership with hands-on technical direction, operational reliability, and delivery planning across a platform used by product and operations partners.
Responsibilities - Build strong working relationships across engineering, product, and operations, explaining the account-linking platform’s capabilities and constraints. - Guide architecture and technical investments so the platform can grow while remaining maintainable. - Define and track the health of account connections and the accuracy, completeness, and freshness of financial data. - Improve monitoring, incident response, and root-cause analysis to reduce recurring reliability and data-quality problems. - Own quarterly delivery commitments, coordinate with Product on priorities, remove blockers, and communicate progress and risks. - Stay involved through design proposals, code reviews, and technical problem-solving while coaching engineers and supporting their growth.
Requirements - At least eight years of experience building and shipping production software, ideally with Node.js/TypeScript, React, GraphQL, and PostgreSQL or comparable technologies. - At least one year leading an engineering team, including experience guiding senior individual contributors. - Experience with external integrations, production data at scale, and improving platform reliability through observability and root-cause analysis. - Ability to balance technical guidance with team ownership, adapting coaching to individual needs. - Pragmatic planning and communication skills: turn unclear problems into achievable work, explain trade-offs, and partner with Product on outcomes. - Strong organization and follow-through, including making system health, ownership, and issues clear to technical and nontechnical partners.
