Role overview A mid-level engineering position focused on the systems that calculate and deliver pay to restaurant employees. The work spans tip pooling and redistribution, wage calculation, earnings retrieval, and payroll delivery on mission-critical infrastructure that directly determines what workers take home and powers products restaurant teams rely on every day.
Responsibilities - Partner with design, product, and engineering peers to develop robust, scalable full-stack applications - Design, build, and maintain high-performing, flexible solutions that support restaurant operations - Provide design feedback and participate in code reviews to ensure implementations meet requirements - Contribute to architectural discussions and help shape the technical roadmap - Leverage AI-assisted development tools to enhance workflow velocity and pioneer new approaches
Requirements - 3+ years of backend experience with object-oriented languages such as Java or Kotlin - Proficiency with modern web standards and technologies including React, TypeScript, REST, and GraphQL - Experience with both traditional relational databases and alternative data stores - Demonstrated track record of delivering high-quality, reliable services to production - Familiarity with distributed systems, enterprise messaging systems, and microservices architectures - Strong cross-team communication skills when discussing complex technical topics - Genuine appreciation for precision and correctness, given that outputs drive employee paychecks
