About this role

Role overview

Help shape the product direction of a privacy-preserving, locally running AI assistant designed to give users greater control over their data and how they use artificial intelligence. Work closely with the Product Lead to turn the assistant's vision into concrete use cases, feature proposals, and product requirements, taking assigned features from discovery through delivery and iteration.

Responsibilities

- Work with the Product Lead to translate the assistant's vision into concrete use cases, feature proposals, and product requirements, grounded in user needs, research, and hands-on experimentation. - Gather user feedback, conduct research, and explore how people use AI in their everyday workflows, identifying where AI can solve a meaningful problem and where a simpler solution may work better. - Write product briefs, user stories, acceptance criteria, and user flows that help engineering and design understand the intended experience, constraints, and measures of success. - Create wireframes, mockups, and working prototypes to test ideas and communicate product behaviour, using AI-assisted tools to explore and refine concepts quickly with the team. - Collaborate with engineers to understand feasibility across devices and models, and help assess how response quality, latency, memory usage, battery consumption, and privacy affect the user experience. - Help the Product Lead evaluate opportunities, clarify scope, identify dependencies, and maintain a focused backlog aligned with product priorities. - Drive assigned features from assignment through delivery and iteration, coordinating across engineering, design, and research.

Requirements

- Demonstrated interest and practical experience with AI products, including experimenting with new AI technologies and understanding both their possibilities and limitations. - Strong written communication skills for producing product briefs, user stories, acceptance criteria, and user flows. - Care about making complex technology easy to use, with attention to conversational interfaces or multimodal features. - Familiarity with desktop or mobile product development. - An understanding of peer-to-peer technologies and decentralised applications. - Experience evaluating AI output quality and designing user experiences that account for uncertainty and errors. - Experience working in a distributed team.

Benefits and work setup

- 100% remote role within a globally distributed team, focused on local, on-device, and privacy-preserving AI with opportunities to connect these experiences across a broader peer-to-peer ecosystem.
