Role overview

This role focuses on designing, building, and maintaining robust data pipelines that integrate, store, and process data from diverse sources for downstream analytics and machine learning use cases. The position collaborates closely with data scientists, software engineers, project managers, and product owners to ensure data quality and enable data-driven decision-making. It also offers the opportunity to mentor junior engineers and shape the team's technical direction.

Responsibilities

- Develop and optimize scalable, secure, and reliable data pipelines supporting a wide range of business needs. - Identify process improvements, introduce automation, and contribute to infrastructure redesign efforts. - Mentor junior engineers and foster an inclusive, collaborative working environment. - Partner with project managers and product owners to prioritize, estimate, and plan development work. - Share expertise through constructive feedback and ongoing research into new tools, libraries, and best practices. - Consider accessibility and downstream impact in every engineering decision.

Requirements

- BSc, MSc, or PhD in Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or a closely related subject. - At least three years of hands-on experience as a data engineer. - Active involvement in the design and development of data architectures and data modeling projects. - Practical experience building and tuning data pipelines and working with SQL-based databases. - Proficiency in a general-purpose programming language such as Python or Scala. - Effective English communication with both technical and non-technical audiences, plus the ability to manage multiple tasks independently.

Nice to have

- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure. - Familiarity with big data tools including Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka. - Exposure to orchestration tools such as Airflow. - Experience with NoSQL databases and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes. - Comfort working in an Agile development environment.
