Role overview
An 8-month internship on a Data engineering team is open for the winter term, running from January 4 through August 27, 2027. The role sits at the intersection of application development and enterprise data warehousing, focused on building, maintaining, and connecting the pipelines and services that move data through the stack. Interns are embedded into a remote-first engineering culture from day one and ship production-ready code alongside full-time developers.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain data pipelines, backend services, caches, and databases, including deployment, monitoring, debugging, and testing - Develop product analytics backend services and ETL/ELT workflows that ingest, clean, validate, and organize raw data for downstream analysis - Ship end-to-end features in a fast-paced, iterative environment while communicating directly with stakeholders - Help shape data strategies between internal systems to ensure consistent and predictable consumption - Translate raw data into well-structured assets that support analysis, insight generation, and decision-making
Requirements
- At least 8 months of backend development experience, ideally in a startup, scaleup, or similarly dynamic setting - Working knowledge of relational databases and SQL - Interest in designing schemas, data modeling, and working with data warehouses - Interest in building data pipelines using ETL/ELT tools - Interest in working with Python on the backend - Ability to learn quickly across languages and technologies, with strong logical reasoning on complex problems
Nice to have
- Exposure to microservices architectures running on cloud infrastructure with container orchestration - Familiarity with data observability tools for monitoring freshness and pipeline reliability
