Role overview
Build and operate backend capabilities for a distributed, security-focused connectivity product as part of a control plane engineering team. The role combines software development with product ownership: you will help shape ideas, design and document core components, maintain production services, and collaborate asynchronously with technical teammates across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, test, and document core software components with the engineering team. - Develop features for the control plane, relay infrastructure, and identity integrations. - Take ownership of production services by incorporating observability, participating in incident response, and helping resolve customer escalations. - Improve system efficiency, scalability, reliability, and operational stability. - Apply a security-first perspective to architecture, implementation, and service operation. - Work with product managers and UX or UI designers to shape features from early concept through delivery.
Requirements
- Experience designing or building distributed systems. - Professional experience with Go. - Experience using one or more SQL databases. - Familiarity with networking fundamentals such as IP addressing and routing. - Ability to work independently, collaborate with highly technical teams, and give and receive constructive feedback. - Strong written and verbal communication, plus adaptability in a changing startup environment.

The listed UK base-salary range is £128,770–£178,540, with individual offers dependent on experience and skills.
