Role overview
This IT Security Administrator role is remote and focuses on enterprise-level administration of identity and security platforms, with a particular emphasis on Active Directory and Azure/Entra. The position safeguards organisational systems by applying established security controls, processing access requests through proper approvals, and resolving a wide range of security challenges using standard and advanced problem-solving approaches.
Responsibilities
- Create, maintain, and terminate Active Directory accounts across the enterprise. - Apply and analyse file permissions on file servers, including AD group creation and file share folder management. - Collaborate with other teams to design and implement secure systems aligned with organisational security needs. - Monitor a request queue, troubleshooting system access issues and fulfilling security requests accurately and efficiently. - Identify and investigate security violations, determine root causes, and execute corrective measures to prevent recurrence. - Manage and monitor security events and incidents, providing incident response as required. - Participate in security audits and assessments, supporting any needed corrective actions. - Stay current with emerging security trends, threats, and vulnerabilities to support proactive defence.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent work experience in lieu of a degree. - Several years of experience in IT security or a closely related field. - Strong knowledge of information security systems, protocols, and standards. - Hands-on experience with security tools such as Active Directory, Microsoft Azure/Entra, and Microsoft Exchange. - Familiarity with industry frameworks and regulations such as NIST, ISO 27001, and GDPR. - Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively. - Proven capability in incident detection, response, and post-incident analysis. - Ability to communicate technical security issues clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Relevant security certifications such as CISSP, CompTIA Security, or CISM. - Experience securing cloud and enterprise-level infrastructure. - PowerShell scripting or automation experience applied to security tasks.
