About this role
Role overview This Staff SRE role centers on shaping reliability practices across a fast-moving engineering organization that ships AI-powered developer tools used by millions of builders. It is a high-influence individual-contributor position focused on embedding with product and platform teams early, defining production-readiness standards, and driving initiatives that span multiple teams. The role shares a one-week-per-month on-call rotation and sits within a fully remote, globally distributed team.
Responsibilities - Partner with development teams from design through launch to embed an SRE perspective before code ships - Establish and evolve production-readiness standards, design reviews, and operational acceptance criteria adopted across the org - Define meaningful SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets with product and engineering partners and use them to drive prioritization - Build paved-road frameworks, tooling, and golden paths across AWS, GCP, and Azure using Terraform as the backbone - Lead incident management and blameless postmortems, turning operational signals into systematic, durable improvements - Engage with cloud and infrastructure provider teams to influence roadmaps and unlock early capabilities
Requirements - Significant experience as an SRE, production/platform engineer, or reliability-focused software engineer at scale - General fluency across AWS, GCP, and Azure, with Terraform as the common infrastructure-as-code layer - Comfort supporting and contributing to TypeScript (frontend and backend) and Ruby on Rails services - Strong software engineering fundamentals and the ability to write production-quality code - A track record of leading across team boundaries without formal authority - Strong verbal and written English communication skills
Nice to have - Experience standing up or maturing an SRE practice at a growth-stage company - Background as an embedded SRE or partnering closely with product teams - Designing chaos/resilience testing or progressive delivery practices
Benefits and work setup Fully remote and globally distributed. No college degree required, and U.S. location is not required.
